More about ROB GROEB . . .

ROB GROEB was born and raised in a small farming community in Southern Michigan. After graduating from the Michigan State University Honors College in 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, he then attended and graduated from Stetson University College of Law in 1984. While attending law school, he served as an Instructor for legal research and writing, as a faculty research assistant in the area of U. S. Constitutional Law and also was elected president of the Student Bar Association. During his final year of law school, Rob was selected by the dean to serve a law clerkship with the Honorable Paul E. Logan, Circuit Judge of the
12th Judicial Circuit of Florida.

After graduating from law school and passing the Florida Bar Exam, Rob began his career as a prosecuting attorney. Over the course of the next 10 years, he prosecuted every type of serious criminal case before a jury- including first degree murder, second degree murder, manslaughter, vehicular homicide, DUI manslaughter, capital sexual battery, sexual battery, child molestation, drug trafficking, armed robbery, kidnapping, arson and public corruption cases. As the Division Chief for Felony Prosecution, Rob personally handled the most serious criminal cases before the jury, while also supervising and training a staff of five felony prosecutors. As the Division Chief for Misdemeanor Prosecution, Rob assumed the responsibility for supervising and training a staff of 15 misdemeanor prosecutors. In this role, Rob was primarily responsible for teaching younger attorneys how to present evidence and testimony in the courtroom before a jury.

For the past 12 years Rob has maintained a private law practice here in Gainesville, representing hundreds of people and organizations in a wide variety of legal matters. In addition to his law practice, Rob has also served as a Legal Instructor at the Santa Fe Community College Institute for Public Safety, where he provided legal instruction to police officers, correctional officers and police cadets in the areas of criminal law, teaching courses in U. S. Constitutional law, Fourth Amendment search and seizure law, evidence, homicide, sex crimes, robbery, narcotics law, obscenity law and child abuse. In 1995, Rob was selected to serve as a Legal Instructor for the U. S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Dangerous Drug School.

Rob's FamilyIn 1988, Rob married Michele Boyle, daughter of the late Dr. John J. Boyle, M.D. of Gainesville. Rob and Michele have been happily married for over 19 years and have one daughter, Emily who is 13 years old. Rob and Michele are involved in the Queen of Peace Catholic Community, Queen of Peace Academy, St. Francis Catholic High School Building Fund Program and Gainesville’s Blue LightningYouth Volleyball. Rob and Michele also serve as volunteers and financial supporters of Catholic Charities and the American Cancer Society Climb-for-Cancer and Relay-for-Life.
